The Brief:

Trendence Research recruited a new Director to re-launch a unique product in a clearly defined market. They were convinced it was the right appointment with the right experiences, skills, and qualities. After two months in the job, the Director was facing some key challenges and barriers to success. The UK MD started to explore the possibility of an external intervention but was unsure which format or content would hit the mark and transform performance.


The Programme:

After a consultation / ‘chemistry session’ with the UK MD, followed by the Director, and a further three-way goal-setting session, Inspire devised a four-pronged individual and team coaching approach.

This included; completing a Lumina Spark Portrait followed by a set of 1-1 executive coaching sessions, team coaching sessions, and self-driven activity taking place between sessions.

The first two 1-to-1 sessions supported the Director to define their strengths and challenges in relation to the new role and the agreed coaching goals, and identified additional areas to focus on. This led to clarity around the mindset and behaviours that may be blocking success, and the areas of skill-development requiring further focus.

Subsequent individual and team Sessions blended traditional 1-1 coaching with team coaching, where collective gaps and goals were identified and skill development supported. Integral to success was what we call ‘Making Learning Stick’ – the activity between sessions driven by the coachee.


The Results:

The Coaching Programme inspired, up-skilled and created clarity for the Director. The journey stopped ‘the wheels falling off’ and re-instilled a core confidence necessary for success. It also provided core skills that transformed how the Director engaged with colleagues and clients. Within three months of the process, the Director and their Team went from having two clients secured or in the pipeline, to having 36 active clients secured or in their pipeline, and generating revenues above target.
